Dr. Toni Gabaldón

Dr. Toni Gabaldón is ICREA Research Professor jointly affiliated to the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB) and the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre (BSC), where he leads the Comparative Genomics group (www.cgenomics.org). His research focuses on understanding underlying genomic bases of organismal adaptations, particularly in microbial organisms. One of his current research lines addresses how the roles of the human microbiome in health and disease, and how they can be exploited for preventive, diagnostic, or therapeutic purposes.

Dr. Gabaldón has published over 300 publications and his work has received over 38000 citations (h-index=91).

Dr. Gabaldón has received honors and awards such as the EMBO and American Academy of Microbioloy membership, the ERC starting and consolidator grants, and the Margaret Dayhoff award and is considered a highly cited researcher by clarivate analytics.
